Binary News Reaper Newsreader is one of the older newsreaders on the market. Also known as “BNR,” the software is a easy to use interface made for downloading binary files. It has a customized interface where the user can customize keyboard shortcuts as well as the font and colors of the windows. Binary News Reaper can download binaries that you select and save them in the directory that you select. It will automatically decode the binary file for you as you download. BNR also has a feature that checks your hard drive to see if you already downloaded the file so you do not waste your time downloading the article again. The newsreader also supports NZB’s- especially the NewzBin service. Although Binary News Reaper is made for downloading binaries, it can also download text group articles. We recommend using a text specific newsreader for text groups- as many other readers are better for text. BNR also supports multiple news servers in case you have more than Usenet provider. The software also has a built in picture viewer so that you can easily view picture files as you are downloading.
