Binreader Usenet Client Review

Binreader highlights:

  • Access files while downloading
  • Automatic File Extraction & Repair
  • Simple, secure NZB downloader
  • Works with any Usenet Service
  • Windows (portable), Mac, Linux
  • Free Binreader Client Download

Binreader is a simple, secure NZB downloader. The easy to use Usenet client allows you to preview files while downloading. The reader supports SSL encryption and will work with any Usenet provider. Simply open an NZB file from Binsearch, NZB.cc or another Usenet search engine and let Binreader do the rest.

The first thing that attracted us to Binreader was the portable version. I’m sure most people will use the standard Windows client but we enjoy portability. Download the free zip version of Binreader and copy the files to a thumbdrive. Then you can run Binreader from anywhere.

Beyond portability Binreader is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X and Ubuntu / Kubuntu / Debian distributions. The Mac version will require mplayer which is used for accessing content while downloading. An Android version of Binreader is in the works.

Downloading from Usenet with Binreader is very simple. You open an NZB file and the client does the rest. Including the download, extraction of RAR files and archive repair using PAR’s when necessary and available. We downloaded a Ubuntu distro and Binreader did all the work.

You’re choice of Usenet provider is open when using Binreader. The free Usenet client supports SSL encryption and is even IPv6 compatible. We highly recommend you connect to newsgroups using SSL. If you have questions as to what news server or port to use refer to your provider’s support area or our news server page.

Bottom line – Binreader’s simple interface, capabilities and portability help it stand out. If your looking for a good NZB newsreader for accessing Usenet downloads then Binreader is a great choice. We found it to be an excellent portable newsreader and look forward to using it while on travel. Go download Binreader free and see for yourself.
