SuperNews Review

SuperNews was one of the early leaders in the Usenet industry. They have always offered high quality Usenet servers and support. For a time the company fell behind leading competitors when it came to retention. In April 2008 ownership changed and since then they have made several changes to bring SuperNews back into a leading position.

Retention - SuperNews went from offering 40 days binary retention earlier this year all the way up to 110 days now. The 110 day multi-part retention is on par with other top newsgroup providers. They also offer 150 day single-part retention and over 1,000 days of text retention.

Speed - performance has never been an issue with SuperNews. You can expect broadband speeds at all hours of the day and days of the week using both standard and SSL server connections. They have servers located in both the US and Europe to maximize performance. For best results we suggest you try the "Super Secure" plan which offers 15 simultaneous connections.

Privacy - SuperNews offers 256 bit SSL encryption to ensure your privacy online. Add this feature to their unlimited download account along with increased connections for only $4 a month.

Pricing Plans - SuperNews has three accounts to choose from:
1. The Super Secure account offers unlimited downloads, 256 bit SSL encryption and up to 15 connections for $19.99 a month.
2. The Super Unlimited account offers unlimited downloads and up to 8 connections for $15.99 a month.
3. The Super Basic account offers 25 GB of downlaods a month and up to 5 connections for $12.99 a month.

Support - SuperNews offers an online support form and promises to answer questions within 48 hours.

Bottom Line - we're happy to see SuperNews returning to its rightful spot among the top Usenet providers. Time will tell whether or not they can recapture the market but we like their progress so far and would recommend giving them a try.
